Not genocide

the laws of war, not by statistics taken out of context….

This is not a campaign of extermination. It is a war against Hamas, a terrorist army embedded in civilian areas by design.

But different rules apply when Israel's involved.

It’s very reassuring to read the above. Thank you. I have frequently heard of the Gaza war being referred to as a genocide as if this were an established fact. I also have friends who insist it’s a genocide, and nothing one can say will dissuade them.
One friend has apparently relied on news sources that may well be biased, but because of the prestige of these sources, he felt that whatever I had to say had no credibility; and he just waved me away. One example: He talked about all the countries that started a case against Israel in the International Court of Justice as an example of how authoritative the case against Israel is. Yet that proved nothing of the kind. And the ICJ found that there was no evidence of genocide. He apparently didn’t know that.
It is all very frustrating. Will this ever end? Will a more accurate story eventually come to light? I sometimes fear that 100 years from now, many will still be insisting that Israel was guilty of genocide during this war, no matter what evidence there is to the contrary.
I was saddened to see that, though Bartov’s piece was on the New York Times op-ed page, Spencer’s piece was apparently not. It seems to be limited to the JNS and his own social media (Instagram, his Substack). I hope I’m mistaken, as Spencer’s article deserves as much exposure as Bartov’s.
