The Jews and Israel

n that same period, millions of other people were driven across borders in Europe and Asia, amid the same post-colonial turmoil, in more violent circumstances, their homes seized, their relatives killed, their cultures lost and their families fragmented. Yet their stories have been buried by history.

Who laments the plight of the Greek Orthodox Christians, or the Indian Hindus and Sikhs, or the Armenians, or the Irish refugees created after the bloody British partition of 1921, or the 12million ethnic Germans expelled from Eastern Europe on Churchill’s instigation after the Second World War? Or the Jews of the Middle East, for that matter?

That’s not to say that Israel’s sins must not be condemned, or that the Palestinian injustice should be forgotten. It’s simply a question of exposing demonisation. And no nation it seems is more singled out and demonised than Israel.

Yes, that is where Israel originated, and it has every right to exist a nation state in that part of the world.
    I have two questions.
    1. How was that part of the world divided up (shared!) In those days long ago when Israel emerged? There were quite a few others who lived there* at that time, long ago!”
    2. Where would/should those who “don’t belong” in Israel go. They have homes, businesses, how would they be compensated?
*Whatever happened to the Philistines and the inhabitants of the Canaan city states????

Strange questions. I have no idea how that part of the world was “divided up” all those years ago. Nor do I have any idea what happened to the Canaanites. And I’m not sure what you mean by those who “don’t belong” in Israel. Are you implying non-Jews? Arabs make up some 20% of Israel’s current population.

I’m making the point that other people who are not Jews have every right to live in that part of the world.
“dont belong” are the 2m arabs in Israel and the 5m arabs in Gaza and The West Bank, that certain interests in Israel would like to remove.
