    That’s probably because the Times quote looks to me like a butchered quote. Specifically it looks like it’s been cut down from something like:
    It’s got nothing to do with Jews. I don’t know if you have been to Golders Green, it’s full of Jews. We had many chances to go there and kill people if we wanted to. I even had Jewish friends, man, I could easily have got them home and killed them if I wanted to kill Jews. I might have got away with it, I might not. But we believe in fighting in the right place with our Muslim brothers when they’re under attack, not killing Jews

    Yeah. Or perhaps the Times guy just invented the whole quote…
