By then we had sat down at the formal dining table, with our backs to Ground Zero a half-mile away and our eyes on the boats on the river below us. My wife and I made abortive attempts at ordinary conversation. We were met with non sequiturs: “The only people who appreciate American foreign policy are poodles.” After further bizarre pronouncements, including a lecture on the illegality of the Holocaust under Nazi law, my wife said that she felt unwell. I’d be interested to know what the source of anti-Americanism is in Germany. They can hardly claim to have been hard done by after WWII and the following decades. I would hazard a guess that it is the South Germans who have the problem, not the North Germans. Every Berliner I have met has no animosity towards the Yanks, for obvious reasons. Those in Bavaria, on the other hand, probably saw the Soviet threat as being distant from them, or at least more distant from those in the North who were on the direct marching line.
Either way, were I a Yank who’d fought in WWII or paid into the Marshall plan, I’d be seriously asking myself why I’d bothered.

Sad to say, I really think it is the Democrat party in the US, plus their little friends like Michael Moore. There influence is bad enough here in the UK; I can only imagine what it must be like when filtered through the German Green types.
