Fordham Spires

City planners have given the green light to Santiago Calatrava’s new twisting design for Fordham Spires in Chicago. On completion in 2010, it’ll be the tallest building in the US at 609.7m, dwarfing Sears Tower at 442.3m, and higher than New York’s planned Freedom Tower.

It won’t top Burj Dubai though. They’re keeping the height secret, but it’s estimated it’ll be 705m.
