You can’t fault Wikipedia for speed of response: they’ve already put up a list of 2006 April Fools. And boy, were there some funnies! Check these out:

Blizzard Entertainment announced the 1.11 Patch Notes. Just days after 1.10 was released!

Moodle announced that they would be converting the code for their entire Open Source Learning Management System from PHP to .NET code before April 1, 2007.

Whirlpool, an Australian broadband news site, announced that Telstra will be rolling out its ADSL2+ service with useful bandwidth limited 2Mbit while “the remaining ADSL2+ bandwidth will be reserved for Telstra branded services such as Foxtel Digital via streaming set-top box, BigPond Movies, and an as-yet unnamed consumer VoIP product targeting consumers interested in a second phone line.”

Phew! Who says geeks don’t have a sense of humour?

The Moodle one is pretty good, but the best one Wikipedia has is the Euro symbol in Perl. That was inspired. And the wireless extension cords. And SQL on Rails was pure genius.
Honestly, how could anybody read about the “Model-Model-Model pattern” and not squirt milk out his nose?
It’s all been downhill ever since we let non-technical people on the ‘net. Jesus, they’re everywhere…
